The next trade!

A lovely donation from Chyaz Samuel, who has traded a brand new unopened 30ml of "Vintage" Kate Moss perfume for the size 6 peep toe shoes.

So the value of items is going up! Anyone who would like some new perfume without spending a penny just trade an item of yours, which is of a higher value than the perfume, and it could be yours!

There's just about 2 weeks of trading left before the final item will be auctioned on ebay, with 100% of the proceeds going to Trekstock. So please think of something you could give away for charity and get involved in my 'Trade Up.'

Shoes, everybody loves shoes!

Second trade done and dusted! The hand designed top and tote bag got traded today by the lovely Maria Berz for a pair of practically new, bronze, peep toe New Look heels in size 6.

So if you're headed to a party or need a new pair of gorgeous heels to complete your weekend look, then these shoes could be perfect for you and cost you absolutely nothing!!!

All you have to do is find something of yours you no longer want, which is of a higher value than the shoes and trade your item for them. It couldn't be simpler! Plus you'd be helping raise money for a wonderful charity!

A little help from a dear friend.....

A huge thank-you to my friend and beauty blogger Chyaz Samuel for helping to spread the word about my 'Trade Up' for Trekstock by posting a little note about me on her blog here.

Chyaz is possibly going to be swapping one of her much loved items, a bottle of Avril Lavigne perfume, in return for the top and tote bag. So if you don't want to fork out a fortune for some new perfume and have stuff cluttering up your room....then why not trade something you no longer want in return for it?

To spread the word further about the Trekstock 'Trade up' challenge and get more and more people trading..... I will be on Leeds Student Radio's Hometime show form 5-7pm today!

Very excited and cannot wait to see all the things people are happy to trade in order to raise money for a fantastic cause!

It's trading time!

It's 9am so trading has officially begun! This is the first item that has been traded, a trekstock virtual badge.

Thanks to Sammy who has traded the lovely tote bag and top below (shown in the previous post) for this badge and for kicking the 'Trade up' off this morning!

Just a reminder of how this 'Trade up' thing works......

The virtual badge has been traded for the bag and top and is now up to be traded for another item of a higher value in return for them. Items will be continue to be traded over a three week period. So if you like the look of the designed top and tote bag then don't hesitate to get in touch in order to trade something of yours in return for them! xxx

Sunday 4 March 2012

Trading time is nearly here!

Trading time is almost here....only 22 hours to go!

9am tomorrow morning Trekstock will be emailing me one of their VIRTUAL charity badges to begin the 'trade up.'

The first item that is likely to begin the trade is this lovey tote bag and hand painted top, which have been designed by my friend Sammy. They are truly unique items, which no one else will have. So have a look and see if you'd like to add them to your wardrobe!

Once trading begins tomorrow morning, the trekstock badge will be traded to Sammy in return for her bag and top. Then her items will be the next objects that can be traded for something of a higher value. So keep your eyes peeled for something that grabs your attention and you want to swap something of your own for it. xxx

So what's the deal?

I'll be starting out with one of these:

And ideally I'll trade it up over a 3 week period for an item of more value than the previous. There is no money involved. Each item is traded for something else and by the end of the 3 weeks the last item will go on ebay. 100% of the proceeds from that item will go to Trekstock.

Possible items to trade:
Cd's
Clothes
Shoes
Old iPods
Vouchers

Anything that you want to trade in order to help raise as much money as possible for Trekstock.....

The Virtual Badge

The first item to begin the 3 week trading is a VIRTUAL Trekstock badge.

It's the iconic symbol that many celebrities, musicians and other important people have been seen wearing in support of the charity. You can see all Trekstock's supporters in their gallery here: www.flickr.com/photos/trekstock/

If you trade me one of your items in return for this virtual badge you could also be seen as a proud supporter of Trekstock. You could use it anywhere to promote your band, blog, twitter, facebook page. Plus you'd also be getting rid of an unwanted item(s) you no longer want for a great cause!!!

About me

So my name's Elle. I'm in my final year of studying Broadcast Journalism at Leeds University and have a passion for music, fashion and the media. Whilst being in Leeds I've had the chance to make short films, help promote live events and interview bands.

Before coming to uni I spent a few years as a volunteer at Harlow Hospital Radio, where I presented my own weekly show, visited patients and helped raise money for the hosptial.

Helping raise awareness about charities is something I have always been keen to do, whether it was from making a ridiculous spoof music video with the student Tv station for Children in Need or simply helping at HHR. And it's definitely something I would love to continue to do when I leave university in the summer.

Trekstock is offering an amazing opportunity to join their charity team as an intern. It would give me the chance to put all my journalistic, filming, research and communication skills that I have picked up from my course into practice, whilst doing something I'm passionate about! So please help me out!

Trekstock’s vision is to help beat cancer through funding research of the highest standard and ensuring all young people have the right and relevant information to make better informed lifestyle choices.

And I hope that by taking part in this Tradeup I can make a difference.

Getting ready for the big trade up!!

So I decided about a month ago that I wanted to become involved with charity work and I could see it as a possible career path. I came across this fantastic sounding opportunity to work for Trekstock, a charity against cancer in young people.

I'm beginning to compete for an internship with the organisation in a few days and I cannot wait! So this is where the fun begins.....

To apply for a place on the programme, I will be given a virtual Trekstock badge on March 5th, as worn by charity patron Mark Ronson, Beyonce, Chris Martin and Katy Perry amongst others.

The badge must then be ‘traded up’ over a three week period in the hope of obtaining something of value that can then be auctioned on ebay with all the proceeds going to Trekstock.

So from March 5th until the 26th I will be trading any items generous people are willing to give up for this charity. If you have an old t-shirt you no longer want and think someone else might, work somewhere that is willing to trade vouchers or just want to help in any way you can by trading something of yours then I'd love to hear from you!

Once trading begins on Monday 5th March, I will begin keeping track of all the items I receive and trade up by posting photos and asking those who've taken part to photograph themselves with their item in order to spread the word about Trekstock!
